| About Us
Not So Strictly Ballroom (NSSB) will once again be hosting the 2nd Annual Vancouver Queer Dance Classic after a very successful first year in 2007 when we hosted the 1st Western Canadian Same-Sex Dance Competition. The 1st Canadian same-sex competition was held at Outgames in Montreal in 2006.
Not So Strictly Ballroom is organized and run by volunteers and is Vancouver's first and only same-sex dance club. We have been holding dance classes for and by the LGBT community in Vancouver BC for 13+ years, twice a week, with professionally-trained instructors. We welcome a growing number of "experienced" dancers, in addition to newcomers each session. We also run a monthly dance from September through to June each year, giving students a place to practice, perform and in general have a good time and meet up with our growing dance community.
At various times throughout our history we have had formation teams and perform at events in the lesbian and gay community including the Pride stage.
We are proud of all that we've accomplished including the VQDC Dance Competition and look forward to meeting many new and old dance friends from the West Coast, as well as other parts of Canada and the US.
Welcome to beautiful, gay-friendly Vancouver! September is a wonderful time to visit -- warm weather lingers, the days are just beginning to shorten. Ah, a walk on the beach, through Stanley Park, down the streets of our gay village. What more could we ask for?
"See you in September".
