We welcome both professional and amateur dancers at the VQDC to provide as many opportunities as possible to compete. Pro-am couples must be either same-sex (in Graded Events) or, in One Dance entries, they can also dance reverse roles - i.e. female/lead, male/follow. This same ruling applies to all other couples. Pro-Am couples are not eligible to enter the BC Same-Sex Open Championship.
Please note on the registration form if you are a professional or an amateur. Pro Am couples will be judged separately and only against each other in all events. If there are enough Pro Am couples for any given event, they may be asked to dance separately from the others.
A professional for our purposes is someone who makes their living as a dance instructor and/or dancer.
